2010/09/01: Jeff Schultz is ready for the 2010-11 campaign after recovering from a bout of mononucleosis this off-season. "You hear about mono but you don't realize how much energy it takes out of you, how bad you feel and how you're pretty much stuck to your bed the whole time," he said. "I hate to say it, but of all times, it was probably a good time to have it. Earlier it would have been during the playoffs and later it'd be during camp. I've had enough time to work out and do stuff that it feels like I'm back where I should be." Schultz recorded 23 points and a league-best plus-50 rating last season for the Capitals. 2010/08/28: The Washington Capitals admit that the Southeast division has become much stronger this off-season. "Every team in the division has gotten better," Coach Bruce Boudreau said. "The 24 games we play within the division are not going to be easy for us. For the most part, we're a very similar team to what we were, so they will know what they're facing whereas, with some of these teams that have changed more than the others, we're facing the unknown." 2010/08/13: Eric Belanger has reportedly agreed to a one-year, $1.85 million contract in principle with the Capitals. However, the official announcement of the deal is being held up because Washington is trying to make other roster changes. The Globe and Mail is saying that the Caps are trying to acquire a defenseman and that Tomas Fleischmann may be going the other way in a trade, but according to Toronto GM Brian Burke it is not Tomas Kaberle.
